Commissioner Albuquerque and Minister Adlercreutz visited, on Friday 10 April 2026, the Yrityskylä learning environment in Espoo.

The European Commissioner for Financial Services Maria Luís Albuquerque and Finland’s Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz visited, on Friday 10 April 2026, the Yrityskylä learning environment by JA Finland in Espoo.

During the visit, the high-level guests explored the award-winning learning concept in which 6th and 9th grade students develop practical skills in working life, economics and society. In Yrityskylä Primary School, awarded as the world’s best education innovation, students take on different professional roles in a learning environment that simulates a miniature society. At the immersive game arena of Yrityskylä Secondary School, students practise leading a company in international markets.

During the visit, the activities of Junior Achievement Finland and Yrityskylä were presented by Director Kaisa Koistinen. Discussions highlighted the key importance of financial literacy for children and young people, as well as the need to strengthen these skills from an early age. After the presentation, the guests toured Yrityskylä and engaged in discussions with the students.

Each year, NYT Yrityskylä reaches approximately 90% of 6th and 9th grade students in Finland. In Yrityskylä, students develop working life skills through experiential and functional pedagogy. In 2024, Yrityskylä was recognised as the Promoter of Financial Literacy of the Year. The award was granted by the Legal Register Centre.
